"What are you, stupid? Never invite them in!" Rob told the teenager shrieking on screen. The girl seemed determined to make every horror movie blunder known to man. Still, he hung over the edge of the couch, waiting to see if she'd outwit the vampire stalking through her sorority house – as always, Hypno Video had unearthed a hidden gem.
He flinched, spilling soda down his front as someone banged on the door.
"It's open!" he yelled over his shoulder. Chris with the pizza. Finally.
The girl barricaded herself inside a second story bedroom.
"Yeah, that'll hold 'em."
He caught a whiff of something rank – definitely not pepperoni and mozzarella.
"Dude! Tell me you didn't go to that vegan place –"
He looked over the back of the couch. The door stood open. No Chris. The girl screamed as the vampire smashed his way in. He muted the TV.
"Chris?"
A scuttling sound made his hair stand on end. What the hell–? The stench grew stronger, a meat locker after a power outage. Something scraped across the ceiling.
He looked up just in time to catch a flutter of bat wings, a mouth full of glistening razors.
On the screen, the muted girl screamed.
